New York to Niagara Falls Bus Tour

Niagara Falls vacations are about more than simply seeing the Falls, although that’s definitely the emphasize of any journey here! But when you’ve admired the magnificent cataract from the edge of the Table Rock, from the prow of the House maid of the Mist boat, from the height of the helicopter, the aero automobile, the Skylon Tower or the Niagara SkyWheel – exactly what else is there to do at Niagara Falls Canada?

I take this concern seriously, because I’m a regular visitor to the area. I grew up within spitting distance of the fantastic waters. Despite the fact that I now live about an hour’s drive away, I typically return on the weekend to indulge in all the regional attractions. Here are a few of my Top 10 tips to make one of the most of your New York to Niagara Falls bus tour:

1. IMAX Theatre and the Daredevil Gallery – Experience the thrill of discussing the Falls in a barrel without leaving your comfortable theatre seat! This is the best IMAX film I have actually ever seen for realism. The adjacent museum including daredevils’ equipment, which is small and wacky, is likewise worth a visit.

2. Niagara Parks Gardens – Thanks to the Niagara Parks Commission we have the most stunning gardens lining the Niagara River. Enjoy them as you own along or stop and smell the flowers in Queen Victoria Park or appreciate the classy water fountains in Oakes Garden Theatre. Just a 10 minute drive north of the Falls you’ll find the world’s biggest Floral Clock and the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens where tomorrow’s gardeners train at the School of Horticulture (I in fact dabbled the concept of using when I was a kid and sort of remorse that I didn’t).

3. A Terrific Greenhouse – If you have not had adequate flowers, or if it’s winter, attempt the Floral Display (its brand-new name … many people still call it the Niagara Parks Greenhouse). I love to visit this unique tropical paradise at Christmas when it has lots of remarkable trees made of Poinsettia plants! The chirping birds contribute to the charm of the experience too.

4. Components on the Falls Dining establishment – This is as close as you can get to the Horseshoe Falls while eating your supper without really taking your lunch in a rain barrel and reviewing the edge. Exactly what a view! Perfect for a special celebration.

5. Niagara Parkway – It’s not often that a road is a traveler destination but the view of the river on one side and the gorgeous landscaping, heritage homes and wineries on the other side make a drive along here an unique reward. Wonderful in the fall when the leaves are altering colour.

6. Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory – Stroll amongst over 2,000 free-flying butterflies in a pyramid-shaped conservatory. Visit your own mini-rainforest.

7. Bird Kingdom – Another rainforest! Absolutely one of my favourite spots in Niagara. Hundreds of tropical birds and plants as well as a Javanese home transported from the jungle and rebuilt piece by piece inside this big former corset factory.

8. Queenston Heights Park – Fifteen minutes by car from Niagara Falls, this park is a serene location to delight in a picnic or dine in another dining establishment with a great view of the river. If you have the energy you might burn some of those calories off by climbing up the monolith to General Brock, hero of the War of 1812.

9. Entertainment – What exists to do in New York to Niagara Falls bus tour at night? If you’ve seen the Nightly Illumination of the Falls, or the Fireworks, then you might wish to take a look at the Greg Frewin Magic Show, the Oh Canada Eh supper theatre, and beyond town, just up the parkway in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the well-known Shaw Festival theatre.

10. Who take a New York to Niagara Falls bus tour in winter? Smart people who delight in the smaller sized crowds and the stunning Celebration of Lights with all the shimmering animated creatures along the river and in Dufferin Park.
